The vast majority of my work has been focused on the built environment in one form or the other, art, vernacular, architecture and places of work that are non traditional landscapes in the old photographic tradition. Both the Dusseldorf School as well the 1975 New Topographic exhibit introduced me to a more banal and detached perspective and made me feel less guilty in regards to not following traditional pictorial aesthetics and focusing more on the blandness in the environment that you see (and now rather not even notice) in North America and now the rest of the world. I explore more empty spaces in my work, especially the space between places where people live and work. I consider this work more in the photojournalist perspective than anything else, however it is not as pure in the same sense as the original practitioners expressed. You can only see what you know, and in the regard what you find fitting to explore and document.
